A national homeless charity focused on delivering services to help change people's lives is currently recruiting for a Functional Skills Maths Tutor on a part time basis to develop and deliver accredited maths programmes to vulnerable adults and young people.
The hours will be from 9am-5pm on Fridays during term time only and will be paid at £21.81ph. This role will be a permanent position and hours may increase as the programme develops. The starting date is in January.
Main responsibilities include:
To recruit and select learners on the basis of need and undertake full initial, diagnostic, formative assessments for maths.
To teach and support learning in accordance with best practice for the client group.
To plan, reflect and review each learner's programme on a regular basis and complete and update the client database regularly.
To prepare and use suitable, differentiated and good quality learning materials. Be knowledgeable of online maths learning resources and able to implement a maths online learning programme.
To prepare schemes of work and lesson plans in accordance with standard practice share learning materials, skills and expertise with other Skylight centres.
To develop and deliver a functional numeracy programme from Entry 1 to level 2 and be able to deliver a GCSE maths class. To take responsibility for ensuring high quality, efficiency and appropriate differentiation.
To assess the learner's progress and attainments against the standard set for the programme.
Essential Criteria include:
The applicant must hold a practical teaching qualification i.e. PGCSE, Cert Ed or equivalent with a subject specialism in numeracy
Experience of delivering maths in an adult education environment and from entry level up to GCSE level.
Proven experience of engaging vulnerable, disengaged or hard to reach adults in relevant educational, employment and training programmes.
