Waste Buster – The Waste Busters
Join the Waste Busters team and be a waste reduction hero in your community in 2012!
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers from the Essex community to act as advocates for waste reduction by advising other residents about food waste and home composting.
Why?
-Over 30% of the average household bin consists of food & garden waste
-Wasted food alone costs each household an estimated 9 a week
-To make your community and local environment stronger, happier and healthier
How?
-Promoting home composting and the Love Food Hate Waste campaign at local events
-Talking to community groups covering topics such as meal planning and portion sizes
-Hosting drop-ins or workshops including cooking with leftovers or compost troubleshooting
-Writing press releases and articles
-Or anything else that suits your skills or helps you follow your passions!
County Councilor Kevin Bentley, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Waste and Recycling said: “By volunteering at one off special recruitment events, a Waste Buster can truly make a lasting impact to not only their community, but Essex as whole. Help make the county a greener place to live, meet new people and make a difference – sign up, join the team and start busting waste!”
You need:
-Enthusiasm to improve your local community and environment
-A contribution of 30 hours
We will provide:
-Full training, resources and travel expenses
-Skills and experience in food waste reduction and home composting
-A chance to meet like minded people
-Opportunities to engage your local community or support to develop your own ideas
-A free annual subscription with Garden Organic

Saturday 18th February (9.30am – 4.30pm) – Colchester
Tuesday 21st February & Wednesday 29th February (6.30pm – 9.30pm) – Castle Point
Thursday 1st March (9.30 – 4.30pm) – Epping Forest
