Our client is a national medical charity providing assessment, rehabilitation treatment and care for adults with profound and complex disabilities and has done so since 1854 on site providing a place they can call home.
They have the expertise across a wide range of clinical services supported by a multitude of therapies, which increase choice, control, dignity and contribute to an individual pathway for people with neuro-disabilities.

Job definition & Competencies
Clinical Management & Professional Practice
Maintain self and teams professional nursing standards in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct.
Provide effective line management for ward staff, manage nurses and nursing services by organising the duty rota and patient allocation, anticipating requirements, assisting in forward planning of absences.
Ensure effective communication and that staff are aware of operational procedures, policies and hospital developments to enable safe delivery of care.
Provide clinical expertise and knowledge to the nursing teams, participate in the direct nursing care of patients and collaborate with relevant groups.
Demonstrate an awareness of disability by acknowledging and valuing the contributions of all patients, participate in the development of clinical and operational nursing projects.
Represent nursing in appropriate meetings/forums as required.

Leadership & People Management
Provide consistent, clear and professional leadership and act as a mentor for all staff demonstrating professional awareness and accountability in care.
Assist with the orientation of all staff to the department.
Manage direct reports effectively, delegating appropriately and holding them accountable for the delivery of targets and undertake regular performance coaching.
Identify learning needs of nursing staff, act as an assessor of nurses, assist the Clinical Nurse Managers by identifying manpower requirements.
Work closely with the nursing team to deliver the successful implementation of key initiatives.

Communication
Ensure all written documentation is legible, communicaton is clear, interactions with external agencies are conducted professionally and any conflicts are handled promptly.

Integrated Governance & Risk Management
Co-ordinate compliance with standards in respect of all legislative requirements, including CQC, DSE, Fire, COSHH, BLS, Manual Handling, safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Information Security and Infection Control.

Person Specification
Required Qualifications - Part 1 Registration,
Teaching/assessing/mentorship qualification.
Desirable- Management Certificate
Experience in a Sister/Charge Nurse role required.
Evidence of continuous professional development, experience of delivering, monitoring and evaluating training programmes with clinical staff required.
Experience in clinical audit required.
Experience in the development of policies, incident and risk management and also complaints management required.
Knowledge of NMC codes and guidelines, knowledge of the Health & Social care Act 2008 and Care Quality Commission requirements .
Knowledge of Human Resources policies and good financial awareness and control.
