CAS is recruiting for new trustees. Could you donate your time and expertise to help us support Southwark’s voluntary and community sector?
CAS seeks to equip Southwark’s voluntary and community organisations with the tools and information they need to achieve their objectives. We provide training and one-to-one support on a wide range of topics to empower our members to develop and grow, and we represent our members to local government and more widely.
CAS is currently looking to recruit up to four new Trustees to the Board, and we are particularly seeking applications from younger applicants, BME applicants and individuals with skills and knowledge related to property / premises issues and around campaigning. By becoming a trustee for CAS, you would play a crucial role in helping Southwark’s voluntary sector to thrive during difficult times; to represent your community and to ensure that the voices of vulnerable communities are heard within local decision-making.
In return for your time and expertise, CAS will offer you a full induction with on-going training and personal development. You will be fully supported within a friendly environment to gain new skills, make useful contacts within the borough, and take on stimulating challenges.
To be a CAS Board member you will need;
- Knowledge of the issues that the borough faces, the challenges of living and working in this populous and diverse borough
- An interest in the contribution that the voluntary, faith and community sectors make to local people
- Commitment to the organisation
- Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
- Strategic vision, wanting to make a difference in the world
- Good, independent judgment
- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
- To be a member of CAS, or eligible and willing to become a member (for full details of CAS’s membership policy, visit the “Join Us” page of the CAS website.
