Sexual Health Nurse

The primary responsibility of this role is to further our
clients goal: The prevention of unwanted births and its mission of
ensuring the individuals right to: Children by choice not chance.
They are now looking for a Family Planning and Sexual Health Nurse based
within their clinic in Reading Berkshire, close to amenities and
transport.
Key Responsibilities
Promote and increase rate of contraception provision at Marie Stopes Reading.
Accurate assessments to establish medical history, sexual and social history
and re-assess at follow-up visits. Provide accurate information on all
contraceptive methods to enable the client to make informed choices, discuss
sexual health with regard to STI including HIV and treatment, pregnancy
testing when necessary, complete accurate electronic notes, give information
and carry out screening for STI's, perform HIV point of care (POC) test and
venepuncture and also carry out cervical smears.
Ensure timely and accurate prescription of drugs, maintain and control storage
of equipment and materials, manage stock levels, record all specimens and
inform clients.
Contact clients within specified time frames, deal with incoming calls, liaise
with Doctors, liaise with lab and call centre, produce reports, undertake
audits, provide ideas and support, ensure targets are met, present results,
attend in-house/PCT's/meetings and participate in performance reviews.
Qualifications Required
RGN
Family planning qualification is essential
Insertion of all LARC contraceptive methods or working towards this is
essential
Nurse Prescriber is desirable
Ability to undertake Cervical Cytology Smears is desirable
GCSE standard English Language, mathematics or equivalent
Experience Required
Post registration experience required
Gynaecological experience required
Family Planning experience required
Sexual Health, STI management experience desired
Skills
Must be able to work well both within a team and on your own.
Have drive and enthusiasm, excellent communication skills.
Must be able to deliver to a high standard and within a time frame.
Able to share information through one-to-one training, meetings and
presentations.
Good attention to detail, excellent written and verbal English.
Flexible approach.
MUST be pro choice on abortion
Hours: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)
Salary: £27,000 - £29,000
