If you are seeking a new role within Independent Living as a Senior Caseworker, based in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea, our client is looking for someone to join their team.
Our client is re-designing their services in line with the current and future needs of older people. It will help them meet the needs of older people and enable them to continue participating in the community, get practical help at home and be signposted to services and benefit entitlements.
The core purpose of the role is to lead the team of caseworkers to provide a holistic and individualistic approach to beneficiaries' needs and requests.
You will supervise the work load and quality of work of the casework team, supervise the meetings, maintain current knowledge and disseminate changes in government policy, social and welfare benefits legislation and practice and you will develop and present workshops and training courses in support of this.
Oversee the caseworkers work on financial review of beneficiaries in Care Homes and check work of caseworkers on financial review cases and provide guidance.
You will take a leading role in the development of the department and support the Head of Care Services, represent the charity externally, participate in initiatives and contribute to the work of associated committees, participate to the work of developing and improving procedures of the Care Department.
You will carry your own caseload and conduct a minimum 12hours of casework per week. Ensure accurate recording of data, effective statistical recording and produce reports when required. Work to weekly and monthly targets when required. Deal with complex case work and support colleagues and provide advice.
For this role you will have:
Extensive and up to date knowledge and experience of the welfare benefits system.
Recent experience of undertaking casework as either a welfare rights worker or similar.
Experience of working within the Social Care sector, working with volunteers.
Excellent communication and written skills, organise own work and work well under pressure.
Knowledge of Social Services procedures, understanding older peoples' issues.
Experience of making presentations, delivering to targets, able to travel on business and the appreciation of working closely within a multi-disciplinary team.
Knowledge of Community Care and the provision of aids to daily living and referrals for Community Care Act.
