Forum for the Future

 

Forum for the Future is an independent, non-profit organisation with a mission to promote sustainable development.

As part of an ongoing programme Forum for the Future is looking to appoint 2 project interns in our Bristol Office.  The successful applicant will assist with research and delivery of the Sustainable West of England Programme, which aims to help make the greater Bristol area the most sustainable city-region in the UK.  This programme is working on a range of projects in partnership with national, regional and local government, business, universities and leading sustainability organisations, making housing more energy efficient; helping organisations cut their carbon emissions; reducing dependency on private cars; encouraging local food and raising awareness of sustainability.

 

You will be working with the team to support their research and management of various projects.  Your tasks are likely to include: working with Refit Wewst homeowners to communicate their experience of domestic energy efficiency retrofitting through a number of media channels, experience of media or PR would be an advantage, including website development.  You will also be supporting project and events management for the West of England Carbon Challenge and helping maintain the public and private sector partnerships within the Challenge.  Good event and project management skills would be an advantage.

 

For this role you should have:

An understanding of sustainable development is desirable

A commitment to the values and mission of Forum for the Future is essential

Good, demonstrable project management and research skills is desirable

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Organised, able to prioritise work and meet deadlines

Able to follow instructions and be self-motivating

Able to work in a team environment

Good ICT skills, with confident approach

Both internships are based in our Bristol office

 

This internship is for a period of 3 months, full or part time.  Expected start date is 6th April 2010.  Working hours are to be negotiated.  Lunch expenses up to the value of £5 and travel expenses from within the Bristol city-region will be covered.
