Our vision is of an independent voluntary sector at the heart of social change.
Our independent status and well respected research means we can challenge and create debate around government policy, trust funding, and other issues which threaten the independence of smaller charities. We are in touch with over 20,000 charities annually through our conferences and training on fundraising, management, organisational and personal development, communication, finance and law.
We also publish a wide variety of resources for charities, including our well known UK fundraising guides, directories and websites. We started in 1974 and we have 39 staff based in London and Liverpool.
The main purpose of role is to assist the Marketing Manager and Marketing Executive. This extremely varied role will suit someone who wishes to develop their marketing skills in a small and very busy organisation. The candidate will gain experience in all aspects of direct marketing, as well as public relations and sales.
Duties will include:
· To keep the contacts database, and e-news distribution list up to date, remove duplicates and contacts that request to be removed
· To add appropriate contacts and with guidance, flag them up for future analysis
· With briefing from the Marketing Manager, to make appropriate selections for mailings
· To monitor volumes of returned mail
· Maintain a library of competitor information and maintain monitor systems for main competitors
· With the Marketing Manager develop and maintain effective marketing information
You will also be required:
· To keep DSC staff fully briefed on marketing activity
· To assist the Marketing Manager in the delivery of the marketing strategy
· To offer support to the PR and sales functions when necessary
· To offer support to the Marketing Executive in a wide variety of marketing activities
For this role it is essential you have:
· Minimum of 6 months’ work experience in an office/administrative environment
· Be educated to A level standard
· A confident user of Microsoft office suite of programmes with a keen interest in marketing
· Can demonstrate high level of literacy (written and spoken English)
· Able to demonstrate use of initiative in appropriate situations
· Good time-management skills with the ability to work to a deadline
· An ability to work well within a team
If you have previous experience or knowledge of marketing this will be a distinct advantage.
This is an intern role and as such DSC will reimburse reasonable travel expenses. The role is based at the office in NW1. Ideally you would be able to commit to full time hours, but this could be negotiated.
