Major Events Intern

CLIC Sargent

CLIC Sargent is a Cancer Charity that cares for Children and Young People across the UK.

The purpose of the role is to work with the Major Fundraising Team on their Autumn events portfolio.  This includes high profile events such as CLIC Sargent’s Christmas celebration at the Royal Albert Hall and The Fantasy Ball at the Dorchester.

You will be representing CLIC Sargent at high profile events and administrating the Major Events Autumn portfolio. This will involve organising invitation and ticket mailings, researching and sourcing raffle and auction prizes, liaising with suppliers, attending event committee meetings and co-ordinating guests and inputting data on the charity database (CARE).  You will also be involved in recruiting and managing volunteers to support events, writing thank you letters to supporters and donors and working with the accounts team to coordinate supporter payments.  You will also attend event with the team to ensure that they run smoothly and successfully (this will involve working on some evenings and a Sunday).

You will need effective customer service and communication skills, the ability to use your own initiative and work within specified guidelines and have an organised, professional approach to work.  You should have competency in Microsoft Office and experience of using a database, a strong interest in working in the third sector and enthusiasm for the cause.  This internship would suit an individual with a particular interest in working in event management or major fundraising.

You will gain valuable insight into the work of CLIC Sargent and the production of large-scale fundraising events and the chance to work with colleagues at all levels across the charity, including PR, Design, Accounts and Corporate Fundraising Departments.  This will also be a great opportunity to develop essential event management skills.

CLIC Sargent will provide full induction, training and one-to-one support for you in your role, offer you further training and development opportunities and run a tailored workshop on CV & application writing, and interview techniques.

You must be available from 6th September – 10th December for 3-5 days/week (days and hour are negotiable).  You will be based in Hammersmith.

Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed and a CRB will be arranged for you.
