Chelsea Estates Youth Project
The Chelsea Estates Youth Project is a small charity that has been serving young people in South and East Chelsea, especially those from less privileged backgrounds, for over 40 years. They provide leisure and learning facilities, with a real focus on informal opportunities for learning and development aiming to help those who may have difficulties at, or have left, school to reach their full potential. They operate sessions on a weekly basis principally at 2 sites, the Wiltshire Close Community Centre (off Draycott Avenue) and the Chelsea Methodist Church on King’s Road.
The charity’s activities are led by a project manager and dedicated team of youth workers and volunteers, who are in turn supported by a board of part time volunteer directors/trustees whose composition reflects the diversity of the neighbouring area. We are also partially funded by and work closely with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
The purpose of the role is to lead and manage the external fundraising activities of the Chelsea Estates Youth Project, achieving income generation targets in line with organisational planning. To maximize income from a range of different sources including direct marketing, trust fundraising, private and public sector donors, individual giving campaigns, corporate fundraising, community fundraising and legacy fundraising. You will lead and manage all the external fundraising activities of the charity, develop a fundraising strategy for the future that will deliver in line with organisational planning and identify potential donors and match these to projects requiring funding. You will prepare donation requests and report to donors on the use of their donations, develop and manage relationships with existing and new donors in order to maximize fundraising potential supporter retention.
For this role some charitable fundraising experience is desirable, particularly a good understanding of different donor audiences, excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills and you will be based ideally in Central or South West London.
