This Charity, based in North London has been in place for the past 35 years.
They have been the best chance for thousands of people who have urgently needed stem cell transplants.
You would need to hold a recognised and relevant healthcare qualification and documented training experience within stem cell/lymphocytes to apply for this post.
They are looking for a Donor Welfare Supervisor for their Harvest & Welfare team within the Operations department.
As Donor Welfare Supervisor you will provide a professional, caring and supportive service monitoring the wellbeing of volunteer donors who have donated bone marrow, peripheral blood stem cells and/or lymphocytes. You will also be responsible to train and manage volunteers and covering donor visits and delivery of blood stem cells to transplant centres.
You will need to have recognised and relevant healthcare qualification and documented training experience. Previous experience of handling confidential and sensitive issues are vital. Must be PC literate, have excellent administrative and problem solving skills, along with flexibility.
Main Responsibilities of the Donor Welfare Supervisor
To ensure all volunteer donors are visited in hospital after bone marrow harvests and during peripheral blood stem cell collections and provided with information regarding the follow up procedure, ensure that donors travel arrangements are met, to liaise with the harvest coordinators on the pre-harvest history of volunteers selected for marrow/stem cell/lymphocyte donation.
To maintain, in collaboration with the Donor Welfare Administrators, contact with the volunteer donor post donation in order to:-
Keep accurate records on their physical recovery and emotional wellbeing
Ensure all medical problems are given adequate priority and attention, referring any complications to the medical officer.
Follow up on wellbeing of UK donors and act as a central liaison point between UK and International donors. Maintain records and follow up on cord blood transplants. Attend training courses and undertake other duties.
Person Specification for the Donor Welfare Supervisor
Essential
A recognised and relevant healthcare qualification
Training qualification or documented training experience
Previous experience of handling sensitive issues.
Excellent interpersonal skills both on the phone and face to face
MS Office including Word and Excel
Desirable
Experience of recruitment and management of volunteers
Understanding of the process of bone marrow/stem cell donation
Salary: £29,676 pa and benefits
Hours: 35 Hours per week
