Corporate Fundraising Intern - Teenage Cancer Trust

 At Teenage Cancer Trust, we understand that young people with cancer require specialist care.  We know how damaging it is to take a young person away from their everyday life, their friends, their environment, their family and put them in a cancer ward with small children or older people.  We don’t believe that teenagers should have to stop being teenagers just because they have cancer. So we fund and build specialist units for young people in NHS hospitals. Our units bring teenagers with cancer together with loads of new friends of their own age so they can support each other

 

At Teenage Cancer Trust, our Corporate Fundraising team is working with a new corporate partners; a national high street retailer with over 1100 stores.  We are currently organising two national collection weekends, one in December 2011 and one in January 2012, and are recruiting an intern to support the team in organising each event. We are offering a voluntary placement for suitability skilled candidate who would like hands-on involvement working in a corporate fundraising environment and experience of event organisation, supporter care and volunteer fundraising. By joining our team and bringing your enthusiasm to the role you’ll be playing a key part in raising vital funds to help young people fight cancer.

 

Typical tasks will include engaging with our volunteers by phone and email, recruiting and organising volunteers for mass participation events, assisting with all tasks in the lead up to the event and providing wider administration support to the corporate fundraising team.

 

Skills needed for this role, would be good written and verbal communications skills, highly developed interpersonal skills; outgoing personality and confident on the telephone, resourceful, able to work on own initiative and excellent IT skills using MS Office.

 

From this role you will gain direct hands-on experience supporting a corporate partnership, practical work experience in a corporate fundraising environment and experience working in a busy office community.

 

Hours of work – 10am – 5pm 2-5 days a week (depending on needs of candidate)

Duration: 1 month with option to extend
