RealStart is a Christian youth development charity based in the scenic town of George in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. We focus on uplifting impoverished youth through holistic development and career enablement and thereby setting them free from the trap of poverty.
We are looking for a motivated, dynamic, hard-working person to join our team and oversee the communications and public relations of RealStart. You will be required to use a broad range of techniques to build RealStart’s profile amongst the media, national and local government, donors, and amongst the general public.
This role will include:
Reporting on the ongoing activities of RealStart to local and international print / electronic publications. (compiling reports, co-ordinating relationships with publications, ensuring a regular flow of news exposure)
Regular updates using Old & New Media (Facebook, Twitter, Website, Newsletters)
Working with our students and helping them use Facebook and the Website to share their experiences with our audience.
Coordinating and project managing public awareness events and campaigns.
Compiling our research into reportable data.
Contacting prospective donors.

Work with Apple computers. We prefer Mac.
Software skills - iWorks, email, facebook.
You must have the ability to write clearly and in a manner that appeals to a range of audiences.
Strong oral communication skills and the ability to make and build relationships.
The ability to commit to the position full time for six months.
Location: RealStart Offices, 88 Meade Str, George, Western Cape, South Africa.
Hours: Monday-Friday: Flexi-time, just get the job done in the best way.
Duration: 6 months
Closing Date: 1 March 2012.
Remuneration: If possible we will offer accommodation (this will be confirmed) and a shared vehicle. All other expenses must be covered by you (flights, food, fuel).
