MyBnk are a charity who deliver financial and enterprise education directly to schools and youth organisations. Through their programmes 35,000 11-25 year olds have learnt to manage their money and make enterprising decisions.
We are looking for a Communications Intern to join our team. You will be required to use a range of techniques to build MyBank’s profile amongst the media, national and local government, the education sector and amongst the general public.
This will include:
Writing case studies on individuals or groups attending workshops
Writing press releases and targeting them at appropriate journalists
Building and maintaining relationships with the media, keeping detailed records of correspondence
Coordinating MyBnk’s online presence, regular updating of social media sites, blogs and newsletters
Researching appropriate avenues for promoting MyBnk, devising and implementing campaigns based on this research
You will also help MyBnk to influence policy around finance and enterprise education. This will involve researching this area and keeping up-to-date with current affairs to help devise and implement a strategy based on this research. You will be required to assist with any other tasks as required by the MyBnk team – this could range from photographing one of our workshops to helping run one of our young people’s focus groups.

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern with an interest in social change, education and the empowerment of young people. You will need:
Knowledge and experience of PR
To be able to work on your own initiative
The ability to write clearly and in a manner that appeals to a range of audiences
Strong oral communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships
Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular). A basic proficiency in WordPress and Vertical Response would be helpful
Strong research skills, creativity and enthusiasm
The ability to prioritise, multi-task and work to deadlines
Experience in the education sector and/or working with young people is desirable
The ability to commit to the position full time for 6 months

Hours: Ideally Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm, some flexibility can be negotiated
Duration: 6 months
