Communications Internship

Forum for the Future

Forum for the Future is looking for an organised and enthusiastic person to work as an intern in their small but busy communications team.  Ideally, the candidate will have some experience in communications and be able to demonstrate an interest in sustainable development.

Forum for the Future aims to create change by transforming organisations and the industry sectors they work in.  They aim to reach a global audience of professionals working in companies, public sector bodies and NGOs.  They want to capture their attention, shape their thinking, change their behaviour and encourage them to use our work and share it with others.

Communications are integral to this work.  The team ensures the consistency and quality of all their content.  It creates engaging materials to communicate their projects, including reports, animations and their web pages.  It disseminates Forum’s work through the mainstream media, through social media and through environmental and other networks.

Interns benefit from exposure to a variety for Forum’s project and activities.  They are likely to assist the team with current projects and manage one or two long-term projects themselves.  Duties will change from week to week but you may assist the communications team by researching media opportunities and recording media activity, proofing publications, web pages and other copy.  You will be updating the website and compiling web statistics and helping to maintain and develop comms admin systems and processes.

You will have some experience in the media or in a communications role, a genuine interest in sustainable development, experience of computer packages such as Outlook, Excel etc and the capacity to field media calls effectively when required. They welcome applications from people with additional experience in publishing, journalism and editing, marketing, PR and events management, online content management and web development, social media campaigns and design.

This internship is flexible, but ideally they would like a commitment to working three or four days a week for three months (mid-September to mid-December).  Lunch expenses up to £5 a day and travel costs from within London can be re-claimed.

Closing date: 9am – Monday 6th September 2010

Interviews: w/c Monday 13th September 2010

If you are interested in this role, please email a CV (no longer than 2 pages) and a covering letter explaining how you meet the person specification to volunteers@tpp.co.uk quoting reference CKM017.
