The Legal services team works across the organization to ensure procedures are in place and widely understood.
One of the roles of the Legal Services team is to oversee the way in which important standards are embedded across British tennis. This includes overseeing the implementation of appropriate practices and procedures to promote equality and diversity and the safety and welfare of children, and to ensure that the sport is able to attract and retain a diverse range of participants. The team develops the strategy for achieving these ends, and delivers advice, support and education to all stakeholders, as well as managing difficult cases
Job purpose:
To work with the Lead Caseworker to provide a professional and effective support service to the legal services team and across the business covering national casework and handling a diverse range of complaints and queries, with a focus on cases involving child safeguarding concerns.
Accountabilities would include:
To oversee and administer child safeguarding and protection concerns arising from external complaints or from the clients CRB disclosure process.
To assist in carrying out the referral and checking process for those with convictions, cautions or additional information revealed through CRB disclosure.
To undertake initial and low-level enquiries in safeguarding and protection cases.
To work closely with the Lead Caseworker, and with the Safeguarding and Equality Manager (SEM) to identify and handle more controversial, complex or serious cases and to address other matters of concern
To identify child safeguarding cases of sufficient controversy, complexity or seriousness to warrant full investigation and to present these for the consideration of the Case Management Group (CMG).
To implement and monitor child protection including the decisions of the CMG, the Child Protection Committee, the Disciplinary Panel, and the Coach Licensing Committee.
Person specification-Essential
Experience of working in a child protection, social work or youth work environment.
An awareness and basic knowledge of legislation and guidance applying to safeguarding.
Experience of writing reports and case management with supervision. Advanced organisational and record keeping skills.
Advanced IT and keyboard skills and knowledge of MS Office applications and effective use of the internet
A satisfactory CRB disclosure
Desirable-Qualified social worker, probation officer or police officer, Experience of handling complaints relating to discrimination
Salary: £27,570
Location: West London
