Jeans for Genes
Jeans for Genes is a UK children’s charity which raises money to fund care and support for children and their families affected by genetic disorders. The money raised, also funds research into the causes and cures of these disorders, many of which can seriously affect children’s lives.
The charity’s main fundraising event is Jeans for Genes Day, which this year takes place on Friday 22nd October. Millions of people across the UK will go to work and school in their jeans, in return for a small donation.
The organisation’s internships are designed to provide work experience and an in-depth understanding of Jeans for Genes and the work that they do. The placements are suitable for current students, recent graduates or those who are returning to the workforce and would like to update their skills and knowledge.
They are looking to recruit an enthusiastic intern to assist the marketing team in various advertising and marketing tasks. The post will provide an excellent introduction to advertising and marketing in the charity sector and would involve sourcing free advertising by cold calling Advertising Managers at key national newspapers, magazine and websites. Carrying out telephone research to a brief set by the Head of Marketing, calling our existing supporter base to encourage them to take part in the Day and accurately recording the responses.
For this role you will need to have confidence in communicating with external contacts, both in writing and using the telephone, good organisational skills and good IT skills (word, email, excel, word)
This role is based at Paddington Station in London and is due to start 1st September 2010. You will be required to work 3-4 days per week in the month of September.
This internship is a voluntary and therefore unpaid position but travel and lunch expenses are available.
