Apply for the latest Finance Officer jobs in charities and not for profit organisations

Finance Officers provide comprehensive financial support to a Finance Manager or Head of Finance. The Finance Officer’s job may also be referred to as Assistant Accountant.

The main duty of a Finance Officer is the preparation of financial information, which can include budgets. Finance officers can take on financial accounting or management accounting responsibilities and often do include a mixture of both. It is essential that they ensure finance procedures are followed at all times.

Skills required for Finance Officer Jobs

The main requirements for Finance Officer jobs include a recognised accounting qualification like AAT, or studying towards ACCA or CIMA. They will demonstrate strong technical and all-round accounting skills with some knowledge or experience of budgeting. Good knowledge of Excel and accounting systems are also important requirements. Some organisations will also require knowledge of relational database management systems, e.g. MS Access and experience of Visual Basic Coding.

Based on TPP’s considerable experience with charity finance jobs, Finance Officers would typically progress to Financial or Management Accountants.

In addition to our Finance Manager jobs you can also browse through related financial and accounting jobs such as: Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Financial Director, Financial Accountant and Management Accountant.
