In most cases the role involves staff management and therefore overseeing the work of the Finance Assistants and Financial Accountants. Organisations generally expect Finance Managers to be fully qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CIPFA) although occasionally consider Managers to be qualified by experience (QBE). There is scope to progress to more senior positions within the finance team, such as Financial Controller or Head of Finance however in smaller organisations the role of Finance Manager could be the most senior finance post reporting into the CEO.
