Family foundations are thriving in Britain and Europe, according to research that is due to be published in June 2009.
The Centre for Charitables Giving and Philanthropy's study will show that family foundations are a significant part of non-statutory funding, although it does not take into account the effect of the global recession.
"The research shows that family foundation philantropy accounts for a substancial part of private giving, and not just in the UK" said Cathy Pharoah, co-director of the centre.
"It also indicates the intternational character of family foundations, and that there might be fundraising opportunities for UK charities in other countries"
